Write on Wednesdays

The clock winked as it flicked into the witching hour. Sam frantically cast salt around her body, awkwardly shifting into uncomfortable angles as she reached across her shoulders. She could take no chances in the magical blackness. Looking out over the industrial rooftops of Bucharest, her eyes followed the traces of rain drizzling down the dirty pane. The grey moonshine washed over everything. She watched on as a lone couple walked hand in hand on the deserted street below. They pulled each other close and leaned their heads toward each other in the dim light. Sam shivered as she sat and pulled at her right ear, an old habit she couldn’t seem to shake. She watched the couple strolling, mesmerised in their shadows and their slow movements.

She heard a sound coming from the square and jumped. Pushing back against the wall she braced herself. Holding her breath, she felt warmth brush against her neck and she screamed in silence.

Thanks again Ink Paper Pen.

  1. Great suspense and mood here. Like Jaimee, I think the last line is great and I also like the added detail about pulling on her right ear. It feels like this could be built upon further down the track. I’d like to see you continue with this one!
