Today is the first of November and day one of my third NaNoWriMo experience. I’ve yet to reach the 50,000 word goal line but I am so motivated and really feel like this is my year… what a load of bullocks. I can’t even lie to the Internet. I am very motivated but I have no idea if this is my year.
But, it’s another year and it’s time to have another go. Can’t get there if you don’t even try right?
This is the beginnings of the novel that floats around my mind and infects my every day. I am going to word vomit all over my iPad (this year it will be written on the iPad as my MacBook Pro was cruelly stolen – insert crying noises here – first world problems) with a goal of 1,800 words per day. I know the characters in my story really well now. I have been carrying them around with me, everywhere I go, in my mind for three or four years now. I have no idea what they are going to start doing once I put pen to paper (ok, fingers to touch screen) but it’s time to find out.
In preparation for this event I have logged into NaNoWriMo, written this blog post and ensured there is plenty of wine available at my house. I suppose it’s not a great start that today, Day One, is Melbourne Cup day and I plan to consume my body weight in champagne shortly.
Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year? What have you done in preparation for it?
